Mia had just moved into her new room. She wanted some peace and quiet after the long day of unpacking. She turned off the lights and snuggled under her covers. Then she heard a soft giggle. To her surprise, a little ghost appeared in front of her. It floated just above the floor. The ghost looked just like a girl her age. She wore pyjamas and a nightcap, and she smiled as she waved. “Hi! I’m Violet. You’re going to love it here! But first, you have to invite me to a sleepover!” Mia blinked. She was not sure if she was dreaming, and Violet was not going anywhere until Mia agreed.

The complication

  • Violet insists on very strange sleepover rules that make Mia nervous, such as hiding all the lights and playing a ghost game at midnight.
  • Mia’s new house has a nosy neighbour who hears the giggles and thinks someone is sneaking around, which could force Mia to explain herself.
  • A family photo falls from a shelf and reveals a secret connection between Violet and Mia’s family, making Mia unsure whether to trust the ghost.
