The complication
- The whisper becomes a clear voice that knows secrets about my family, forcing me to decide whether to keep reading or close the journal forever.
- The pages begin to show scenes that start happening in the house, so the journal might be causing events instead of just describing them.
- A shadowy figure appears at the attic door each time I touch the journal, and it grows bolder the more I read.
Sentence starters
- I crept closer, fingers hovering over the trembling page as if the paper might burn.
- The air in the attic tasted of dust and old wood, and a warm, uneasy silence wrapped around me.
