The complication
- The glowing crystal suddenly drains power from the engine and the workshop lights dim, leaving me trapped with mechanisms that begin to move on their own.
- A rival inventor arrives and claims the crystal belongs to their family, forcing me to decide whether to hand it over, hide it, or bargain for time.
- The crystal’s energy reacts to my touch and opens a portal that starts to twist time in the workshop, making past and future versions of the room appear and collide.
Sentence starters
- Suddenly, I stepped closer and reached out, my fingers trembling as the crystal sang against the engine’s heartbeat.
- The room tasted of burnt oil and ozone, and the air felt alive with something almost like a breathing machine.
